Jewelry: Organized Storage, Accessorized

Baubles. Trinkets. Loops and strands. The shapes and sizes of every little piece of jewelry lend themselves to neat, organized storage for the easiest of accessorizing. Being able to see each pair of earrings, necklace, and jangling bracelet at once makes for quick enhancing of an outfit in a tangle-free experience. 

Divide-and-conquer is the key. Take stock of every piece of jewelry you have, determining what’s a real keeper and what’s just taking up space. Giving away or consigning pieces you consider dated or no longer your go-to accessories removes the unworn excess and allows you to store only items worthy of your wardrobe. Once you’ve pared down, the trick is proper storage. 

Accessorize your accessories with bins, trays, cubes, stands, and boards. You can find items designed for jewelry storage, and you can also think outside the [jewelry] box. Utilize space in new ways if need be. Dresser, armoire, or bathroom drawers can be good space to lay out jewelry trays and keep all of your earrings and bracelets on one level with no stacking or tangling. Choose organizational pieces that meet your storage needs, whether that is trays with rows or divided cubes that can line up matching earrings or jewelry stands or "trees" that can hold your necklaces and be attractively decorative at the same time. 

Is there unused wall space in your closet or bathroom? Add your own bulletin boards for vertical storage. Buy a simple bulletin board (or two) and a package of standard pillowcases in the fabric of your choice. Slide one board into an ironed pillowcase, neatly fold back the open end, and pull the entire perimeter upholstery-style tight, securing all edges to the back of the board with a staple gun. The front side makes the perfect place to hang necklaces side by side from push pins in art-worthy fashion once you hang your new jewelry gallery on the wall. Hang two boards side by side for double the eye-catching storage. 

When every strand and dangly set of gems, jewels, and beads can have a place of its own, getting out the door in the morning looking put together and polished to perfection just got a lot quicker. And no fingernails, scissors, or tweezers were harmed in an otherwise frustrating, tangled process.
